Brief Information About Agri

Agri province on the border with Turkey and Iran is located on a plateau at 1650 meters of altitude. Ağrı province, which is one of the entrance gates to Anatolia, has hosted different civilizations for centuries. The city takes its name from Mount Ararat. Mount Ararat, 5137 meters high, the highest mountain in Turkey and Europe. Ararat Mountain, which is mentioned in the Torah due to its connection with the Noah's Flood, and its country are thought to be in and around Ağrı, so Ağrı is also called Ararat by westerners.
