Brief Information About Ankara

Ankara has been a center where different civilizations have ruled since the early ages. After the Hittites, the Phrygians dominated the region. As the founder of Ankara, Midas, the King of the Phrygians, who gave the region the name "Ankyra", meaning "ship anchor". Lydians, Persians, Macedonians, Roman and then Byzantine Empire came under the rule of the Ottomans after the arrival of the Seljuks in 1073. Ankara, Turkey in 1920 after the establishment of the National Assembly becomes an administration center which the War of Independence. In 1923, Ankara officially declared as the capital of modern Turkey. You can find a modern city life in Ankara.
