Igdir City

Iğdır is located in Turkey's east. It has a microclimate climate as it is surrounded by mountains on all four sides. Iğdır is among the must-see places with the legendary Mount Ararat. There are many legends about Mount Ararat. The most known of these is Noah's Ark. It is widely believed that Noah's ship landed on Mount Ararat after the flood mentioned in holy books such as the Bible, the Torah, and the Quran, which is also mentioned in the famous Sumerian epic "Gilgamesh". In its history dating back to the Paleolithic Age, Iğdır was under Persian, Macedonian, Seleucid, Roman rule. It was conquered by the Arabs in the 7th century, and in 1064 it came under the rule of the Seljuks. Iğdır, who was invaded by the Mongols in the 13th century and joined the Ottoman lands with the victory of the Çaldıran War in 1514, was under Iran in 1737-1746 and under the Russian occupation between 1878-1918.
